FULL-TIME MOTORHOME TRAVEL BLOGS
We’re Julie and Jason Buckley….
….And we’re based in Nottingham in the UK when we’re not travelling. Back in 2011 we made the decision to quit our corporate jobs, both of us aged 39 at the time, buy an old motorhome and travel Europe with our dog Charlie, a cavalier king charles spaniel. A somewhat banana’s decision perhaps, but we’ve not looked back.
Hi, We’re Nicky and Aaron Hill….
….based in Northants, England when we’re not exploring elsewhere. We are originally from Cambridge, England and Lisburn, Northern Ireland respectively, and have had quite the individual journeys before the threads of our personal travels collided and entwined. Explore over 2 years of our journeys, If you want to catch up with our full story start here at the beginning.
Hi, we are Andy and Anne….
….and we have recently made some changes in our life (we are now both self-employed) so we can take longer holidays in our campervan with Finn our dog. We have had various vans for over 10 years and have had great holidays both in the UK and Europe with our old Border Collie Merlot, but our breaks have always been the traditional two weeks. After avidly following lots of the travel blogs of other couples having adventures in their vans we decided to follow suit.
Hi, we’re Tim and Sarah….
….Tim was a solicitor and Sarah a National Health Service Manager. We’re in our mid to late 50s and have loved travelling throughout our lives.
It has always been a dream that when we retired we would spend as much time as possible travelling. We have finally retired and are embarking on our first long trip in Basil, our Hymer motorhome.
Tim and Sarah have two beautiful dogs who travel abroad with them, Meet Mable and Melek!
“I am such a lucky person – married to my best friend and fellow traveller, Pete. We live in a lovely place and now have the time to travel widely. We hope you enjoy reading about our travels…we love having a motorhome and the lifestyle it brings”
Well, we’ve got two sons….
….Andrew who’s 35 and Alex is 33. Alex is married to Sarah and they have two sons. Andrew is still looking
I’m Chris, ex newspaper & commercial photographer and Fiona, Ex Nurse/Practise manager .. known as Madam .. pronounced Mad – Dam.. a name invented by our sons. I’ve worked at the NZ Herald, Auckland Star and several overseas newspapers. I’ve been self employed as commercial photographer since the early 90’s and although I’m still looking after old clients and friends, I am slowly retiring without making a noise about it
We are a normal(ish) second time around couple….
….James was due to retire and on a spontaneous 4.00 am tea drinking decision, I retired early. We let the house out for a year and took the plunge … no going back! We started our travels with 11 days in Jordan, where James had lived for a while. We then crossed over to mainland Europe on 20th April 2015 in our motorhome on our big adventure.
This is the journal of our travels….
….Our future plans aren’t over ambitious and the trips and journeys that we have completed so far don’t compare with the many life-changing adventures that I’ve read about on the Internet, but we are happy and enjoy being somewhere else.
We are a mature married couple and a Yorkshire Terrier called Ruby. Don’t be fooled by the Yorkie, she means business.
She was named Ruby because we bought her as our Ruby Wedding anniversary present to each other, so technically she is half mine. Guess which half I got….
After what seemed like years of planning….
….but was actually more like 18 months, having given up our jobs, or retired in Jane’s case, thrown a farewell party and said our final goodbyes to friends and family at a Bucks Fizz breakfast, we drove from South Wales to Plymouth on Easter Sunday, and caught the 15.45 Pont Aven Brittany ferry to Santander. 18 hours later, after a wonderful, trouble-free crossing, we arrived in northern Spain, looked at each other and said: “Okay, left or right?”
Ken and Kathleen Campervan Trips….
….A light hearted and (I hope) amusing record of some of our campervan trips. It is mainly intended to inform friends and family where we are and to keep our children updated on what is happening to their inheritance. I do try to include details of camp sites and aires we visit. Please comment if you feel inclined, at least then I know I am not talking to myself (again).
Ever wanted to pack your bags, just jump in a motorhome and go off and explore Europe as a family?…
….Well, that’s exactly what we (Catherine, Richard, Lottie & Libby) have done since September 2015. Visiting 35 European countries, travelling over 54,000 miles and grabbing over 450 family experiences on the way… enjoying Bobsleigh in Norway, Climbing into Mt Etna in Sicily or Kayaking the River Dordogne.
….and just don’t make it that far so we have decided to make it that far NOW! Follow us as we start a new life touring Europe and working in the U.K in the summer months to pay for it. Our Ultimate dream is to do this for as long as we can and to be able to buy a small house in France for when we cant.
